Get Involved

This page is a few of the programs and ways you can get involved at Hedding.  You can also check and like our Facebook page for more current information

Adult Bible Studies and Book Studies

Almost all studies are ongoing and throughout the year.  For the most current information to see what we’re studying now, give us a call at the church.

Adult Bible Study meets all year on Sunday mornings from 9:00-9:45.  We do a variety of studies on subjects, books and characters.  This is ongoing.  Contact the church office to see what we’re studying next – you can always just show up!

Women’s Bible Studies are scheduled throughout most of the year in multi-week segments, and held at times agreed by the participants.  These studies allow for women to be more open and discuss ideas and subjects relevant to women.  There are study groups meeting Thursday evenings, and sometimes others during the daytime.

Men’s Bible Studies are held weekly on Thursday evenings 6-7pm.  Similar to the women’s study, men are the focus here.

Other Available Fellowship/Spiritual Grown Opportunities

Adult Small Groups:Hedding has a number of small groups that meet regularly for spiritual growth, fellowship, service, support and other aims.

Wesley Accountability Groups meet weekly as a general rule. There are several of these, where the participants share about their spiritual journeys, trials and perseverance in faith.  A list of all the available and current Wesley Groups is available on Sunday’s at church.

Adult Fellowship is a great time for adults to get together and enjoy each other’s company.  We meet approximately every month over a different culinary theme and different locations – Come and enjoy!

Men’s Group meets weekly and at other times to support men in the development of male spirituality, strength and service. For more information, click on Men’s Group

Couples Dinner Couples come together for dinner out or dinner at someone’s house periodically.

Ladies Intergenerational Breakfast is held at the church during the odd numbered months on the third Saturday morning. All women are invited.

Music: Music plays a vital role in the life of the church, not only in worship, but also in spiritual formation and fellowship. Rehearsals of the Adult Choir and Band are usually Thursday evenings.

Leadership with Children and Youth

Work with children and youth is key to transformed lives—both the lives of the young people and those who work with them. We have many levels of involvement, but kids know commitment when they see it—and this will determine whether they develop commitment themselves. Are you called to this committed work?

(Please note that all who work with children or youth, must take a course on child safety and undergo background checks.)

Here are a few opportunities:

Children’s Sunday School provides many opportunities for you to work with kids of different ages, sharing your experience of God and helping them to allow the Holy Spirit to form them into strong Christians. We need volunteers to assist the teachers and nursery staff, every week.

Nursery is where we provide safe and positive care for children up to age 4 on Sunday mornings and for other events. We have an excellent paid person, but volunteers are frequently very helpful.

Mentoring is a critical part of helping children and youth move from the ways of failure to ways of hope.  Hedding UMC is a sponsor of the Lifebridge Mentoring Program at Barre City Schools.  Members of the church are mentors and some of our children are mentored.
