Our Pastor and Staff

Our Pastor--Rev. Rachel Fraumann

Pastor Rachel (Rae) Fraumann has been in ministry, primarily youth ministry, for more than 20 years. She grew up Presbyterian, but attended a United Methodist seminary (Drew University, class of 2008) and joined the denomination in 2015 at First UMC in Burlington where she has been working as Pastor for Children, Youth, and Young Adults since 2011.

Pastor Rae was ordained in June of 2019 along with the largest ordination and commissioning class in the history of the New England Annual Conference! Rae is particularly excited about joining the Hedding family of faith because of a shared passion for social justice and community outreach! During her time at First UMC she has had much experience with street ministry and looks forward to working with both staff and volunteers at Hedding as a visible witness of God's love through faithful action in the community!

Rae can often be found outside playing, gardening, or just sitting in the sunshine enjoying the beauty of God's magnificent creation. Her love of creation dovetails nicely with her contemplative spiritual practices all of which center and ground her daily life. Music also nourishes her spirit and she loves to share her voice and guitar with the community.

Our Outreach Minister-- Rev. Renny Azotea

Rev. Renny Azotea was ordained by United Christian Fellowship in Johnson City, Tennessee and served as Assistant Chaplain at a local rescue mission. He earned his Associates Degree in Christian Education while residing in Tennessee. The Lord laid it on his heart to become involved with several homeless programs while serving on staff at a large nondenominational Church in Johnson City TN. More recently, Renny felt God calling him and his family back to Vermont. His vision is to reach out to the lost and hurting souls in the local area and show God’s tender love and mercy as His son Jesus did. He believes that Hedding United Methodist is the lighthouse of Jesus that beckons the lost and hurting.

Renny is our Outreach Minister, taking leadership in programs for emergency assistance, the food shelf, Friday Community Supper, praying with and connecting folks with a variety of material and spiritual resources, and organizing community wide Christian outreach events.

Choir Director  Charlene Helman

Music Director, Charlene Helman

Charlene grew up in an active Methodist community. She taught music in Central Vermont schools for many years. Charlene and her husband Scott have two grown children and one grandchild.

Charlene brings a variety of musical styles and forms to our worship, leading both our traditional choir and our praise band. She cultivates our understanding and experience of music as worship.

She welcomes newcomers to our choir. A good ear is important, but reading music is not essential to being a member of the choir. Choir rehearsals are Thursdays at 7. Contact Charlene to get involved:
