Our Pastor and Staff

 Our Pastor--Rev. Kim E. Kie

Rev. Kim E. Kie has been responding to God’s call throughout her life. She grew up in Pittsfield, MA attending First United Methodist Church. After graduating from Smith College with a degree in American history, she returned to the Berkshires and worked as a fundraiser and volunteer coordinator at Hancock Shaker Village.

Having served as a Sunday School teacher, on several committees, and becoming a lay speaker, she accepted the position of Director of Christian Education and Outreach Ministries at the Pittsfield church in 2003. She participated in two mission trips to Gulfport, Mississippi in 2007 to rebuild homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina. She served as the President of the Pittsfield Area Council of Churches (2006-2008) during their transition from an ecumenical council to the Interfaith Pittsfield Area Council of Congregations. Through these experiences, Kim discerned her call to pastoral ministry. She was licensed as a local pastor in June 2008. She graduated from Boston University School of Theology with her Masters of Divinity in May 2013 and was commissioned as a provisional elder in the New England Annual Conference of the UMC in June 2013.

Kim identifies her call to ministry as a call to help individuals and churches discern and live into God’s call to love and serve the community. Kim lives in Barre with her cat Izzy. Her adult son lives in the Berkshire Hills of Western Massachusetts, where most of her extended family resides. Kim enjoys travel, reading, scrapbooking, and knitting.

Our Outreach Minister-- Rev. Renny Azotea

Rev. Renny Azotea was ordained by United Christian Fellowship in Johnson City, Tennessee and served as Assistant Chaplain at a local rescue mission. He earned his Associates Degree in Christian Education while residing in Tennessee. The Lord laid it on his heart to become involved with several homeless programs while serving on staff at a large nondenominational Church in Johnson City TN. More recently, Renny felt God calling him and his family back to Vermont. His vision is to reach out to the lost and hurting souls in the local area and show God’s tender love and mercy as His son Jesus did. He believes that Hedding United Methodist is the lighthouse of Jesus that beckons the lost and hurting.
Renny is our Outreach Minister, taking leadership in programs for emergency assistance, the food shelf, Friday Community Supper, praying with and connecting folks with a variety of material and spiritual resources, and organizing community wide Christian outreach events.

Choir Director  Charlene Helman

Charlene grew up in an active Methodist community. She taught music in Central Vermont schools for many years. Charlene and her husband Scott have two grown children and one grandchild.

Charlene brings a variety of musical styles and forms to our worship, leading both our traditional choir and our praise band. She cultivates our understanding and experience of music as worship.

She welcomes newcomers to our choir. A good ear is important, but reading music is not essential to being a member of the choir. Choir rehearsals are Thursdays at 7. Contact Charlene to get involved:
